Meet the Furnace MFG Team
Eric Astor – President and CEO
As a music industry veteran with decades of experience running record labels, distribution companies and as a touring musician, Eric realized over the years that it was difficult for independent artists to find a company that could duplicate CDs and press vinyl at a fair price with good service. And not only good service – consistent quality that meant clients never had to wonder if their order would meet expectations and make THEM look good. Eric founded Furnace MFG with these goals in mind and has since built the company into a national leader in media duplication and acts as our beacon, paving new roads in sales and product development.
Ali Miller – Production Manager
As a seasoned professional in all that is duplication and replication, Ali manages every detail of our manufacturing processes and the staff that gets your order from our facility to your door. With five years in the business under her belt, she’s Furnace’s go-to person for everything from job scheduling to customer service. Her dedication to your order is what keeps our customers coming back and we’re delighted she’s dedicated to us in return.
Wayne Cohen – General Counsel
Wayne is a veteran trial lawyer based in Washington D.C. and provides guidance to the Furnace team. Mr. Cohen has been an Associate Professorial Lecturer of Law at The George Washington University Law School since 1993, where he currently teaches Trial Skills. He is also the former President of the Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan Washington D.C. (TLA-DC, D.C. branch of ATLA), is a former Board of Governor of the TLA-DC, a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, former Chairman of the Litigation Section of the District of Columbia Bar Association, and the former chair of the Injury to Persons and Property Section of the D.C. Bar. Mr. Cohen also served a 2 year appointment to the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland, Peer Review Committee. Perhaps it was The Wall Street Journal in a feature article on Mr. Cohen which most clearly identified him, as “brash, aggressive, and enterprising.” Mr. Cohen, who is a former amateur boxer, zealously pursues his cases and has won millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for his clients.

The History of the Furnace Logo
What a long, strange journey it's been...
You're talking about our logo right? My it's handsome. Why not take a moment to admire it and reflect upon the road it took
to get here? The first Furnace logo was created in 1996 and it certainly doesn't look a whit like its modern-day counterpart.
As Furnace has evolved over the last two decades, so has the logo. From an austere, monochrome tribute to the digital age
to a retro-modern tribute to the resurgence of vinyl, the Furnace logo has always depicted the company climate of Furnace.
And what's with that welding dude?
Oh you mean Furny? I'm glad you asked. Furny was conceived in 2001 and has held a place of honor in our logo ever since.
Furny was notably conceptualized by design wunderkind Shepard Fairey, who has gained notoriety in the public sphere for
such designs as the André the Giant Has A Posse (OBEY) sticker collection and the Barack Obama “HOPE” poster for the
2008 US Presidential election. Aside from the Furnace logo, Fairey's works can been seen in other illustrious locales such the
Smithsonian, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum
in London, England.
Furny himself has appeared in other places besides the logo. Since his public debut 10 years ago, he has appeared in marketing
campaigns, on posters and flyers, in newspapers and magazines, and on glassware. Aside from his classic style of “Furny casual,”
he has also appeared in costume as Johnny Cash, Santa Claus, and all four original members of KISS. He has traveled the globe,
driven a Smart car, and been the object of paparazzi scandal.
Furny's appearances on the Furnace logo have varied widely as well. In 2005, he appeared in a new logo to promote Furnace's first
online duplication shop. His most recent iteration appeared in 2010 to celebrate our sponsorship of Record Store Day. Perhaps
his next logo will celebrate the first welding-themed company mascot to land on the moon. As Furnace continues to evolve and
continue its pursuit of high-quality media manufacturing with premium customer service, only time will tell.
So many people have raved about our logo and have asked if they can buy a t-shirt or some other merchandise just to get their
hands on our logo! Stay tuned, we’re working on adding some products for sale to our website. Sign up for our newsletter and
we’ll send an announcement when we’ve got some things up for sale!
