The History of the Furnace Logo![]() What a long, strange journey it's been... You're talking about our logo right? My it's handsome. Why not take a moment to admire it and reflect upon the road it took to get here? The first Furnace logo was created in 1996 and it certainly doesn't look a whit like its modern-day counterpart. As Furnace has evolved over the last two decades, so has the logo. From an austere, monochrome tribute to the digital age to a retro-modern tribute to the resurgence of vinyl, the Furnace logo has always depicted the company climate of Furnace. And what's with that welding dude? Oh you mean Furny? I'm glad you asked. Furny was conceived in 2001 and has held a place of honor in our logo ever since. Furny was notably conceptualized by design wunderkind Shepard Fairey, who has gained notoriety in the public sphere for such designs as the André the Giant Has A Posse (OBEY) sticker collection and the Barack Obama “HOPE” poster for the 2008 US Presidential election. Aside from the Furnace logo, Fairey's works can been seen in other illustrious locales such the Smithsonian, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England. Furny himself has appeared in other places besides the logo. Since his public debut 10 years ago, he has appeared in marketing campaigns, on posters and flyers, in newspapers and magazines, and on glassware. Aside from his classic style of “Furny casual,” he has also appeared in costume as Johnny Cash, Santa Claus, and all four original members of KISS. He has traveled the globe, driven a Smart car, and been the object of paparazzi scandal. Furny's appearances on the Furnace logo have varied widely as well. In 2005, he appeared in a new logo to promote Furnace's first online duplication shop. His most recent iteration appeared in 2010 to celebrate our sponsorship of Record Store Day. Perhaps his next logo will celebrate the first welding-themed company mascot to land on the moon. As Furnace continues to evolve and continue its pursuit of high-quality media manufacturing with premium customer service, only time will tell. So many people have raved about our logo and have asked if they can buy a t-shirt or some other merchandise just to get their hands on our logo!
